In the weeks leading up to Super Bowl LVIII, there was a lot of speculation that Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid could retire after the conclusion of the season. Not only is Reid expected to remain with the Chiefs as they pursue a third consecutive Super Bowl title, it sounds like he’s getting a significant contract extension, as well.
According to a report from league insider Tom Pelissero of NFL Media, Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs are set to begin talks about a contract extension that is expected to make Reid the highest-paid coach in the entire league.
“Coming off back-to-back Super Bowl wins, the Chiefs and Andy Reid are expected to begin negotiations in the coming weeks on a new contract that NFL sources believe should soon make Reid the highest-paid coach in football,” Pelissero wrote for NFL.com on Monday.
Obviously, this is some pretty significant news, especially considering the retirement rumors surrounding Reid previously, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media.
