San Francisco linebacker Aldon Smith is having a career year, and has a legitimate shot at breaking the all-time NFL single season sack record. Aldon currently sits at 19.5 sack on the season with three games to play, and the record is 22.5 sacks set by Michael Strahan in 2001. In a surprisingly wonderful gesture by Smith, he has announced via the 49ers website that he will donate $5,099.00 for each of his sacks during the regular season to Boys & Girls Clubs. The monies will be split between Boys & Girls Club of San Francisco (Willy Mays Clubhouse at Hunters Point) and Boys & Girls Clubs of The Peninsula (East Palo Alto Clubhouse).
Aldon Smith explained his gift giving:
“I am excited to be able to give back to my community. Now, in addition to playing to win games, I am playing to raise much needed money for a great organization that makes a huge difference in the lives of millions of young people.”

You can bet that there will be TV’s on in every one of the San Francisco Boys & Girls Clubs this Sunday rooting for Aldon when the 49ers take on the Patriots.
