The New York Knicks lost to the Houston Rockets on Thursday night, 120-96, in a game that was close until about midway through the second quarter. After that, it was Rout City. But we’re not here to talk about that. We’ve piled on the Knicks enough, so let’s highlight a couple nice things that happened to the home team.
First, there was Langston Galloway. Yeah, we know: “who the eff is Langston Galloway?” Glad you asked. Mr. Galloway is an undrafted rookie out of St. Joseph’s who landed on the Knicks because, well, they’re the Knicks and they need real, live humans to fill out their roster (okay, sorry, I know I’m supposed to be nice here). Anyway, Galloway, whose game highlights you can watch above, is a D-League call-up who just signed a 10-day contract. He made his NBA debut Wednesday night against the Wizards, but had a Garden debut to remember. He scored 19 points, becoming the first Knick since Patrick Ewing to score at least 17 points in his MSG debut. Even if he never scores another point, he’ll always have that.
And, he’ll always have this: an emphatic put-back dunk near the end of the first quarter that had the MSG faithful thinking “hey, maybe we can actually win this thing!”
Later, three Knicks managed to not totally blow a three-on-one fast break.
