There may be plenty of great basketball movies but there was only ONE basketball movie that starred Michael Jordan shooting around with a bunch of cartoon characters.
That movie, the immortal Space Jam, has enjoyed a bit of a resurgence in pop culture cache this year thanks to Jordan Brand’s promotions with Looney Tunes and the recent rumors of a Space Jam 2. Now, the original jersey that MJ wore for the film is going to be sold at auction by Invaluable beginning on October 1st.
The starting bid?
$10,000
Per the auction house’s website:
1715. Michael Jordan uniform from Space Jam. (Warner Bros., 1996) Screen worn complete basketball uniform including (1) XL AIS brand mesh, red, white and blue-trimmed sports jersey with “Tunesquad” logo on the front and signature number “23” emblazoned on the back and (1) matching pair of size 38 shorts. Worn in the climactic showdown between Michael Jordan’s “Tunesquad” and the “Monstars”. With signs of wear and minor staining. In production used fine condition.
Compared to some of Jordan’s actual game-worn memorabilia, this make-believe game-worn jersey may actually be a bargain! Just remember, if you’re going to bid, the Space Jam uniform comes with some stains.
