The NBA has quickly made it a tradition to make their Christmas games special by having the teams dress in one-off alternate Christmas jerseys. The practice makes the games feel more celebratory and, not coincidentally, allows the NBA to sell even more jerseys. And while the past couple of years have been an unmitigated disaster (the monochrome uniforms of two years ago were painfully boring while the sleeved jerseys of last year may be among the worst sleeved-jerseys ever manufactured as they looked like pajama shirts), the NBA is dialing it back a bit this holiday season and, to no surprise, the jerseys look better.
The front of the uniforms will have the team’s logo and the player’s number. On the back, the player’s number will be above the player’s first name. It’s simple, clean and with just enough a twist to make them stand out among the many alternate jerseys that the NBA pumps out each season. If they could be improved, the NBA could have borrowed from one of their better alternate jersey ideas from last season and put the players’ nicknames on the jersey instead of their first name.
