The Golden State Warriors made quite the splash last year when they debuted a new, short-sleeved jersey. As expected, the jerseys were met with some resistance by players and fans alike, but were a big cash grab for Adidas.
With that in mind, it shouldn’t come as a huge surprise that more teams will be sticking their hand into the cash pot this upcoming season. In June, ESPN’s Darren Rovell reported that as many as five teams would have the sleeved jerseys as an alternate choice in 2013-2014.
In addition to those five teams who will wear the sleeved jerseys as regular alternates, 20 NBA teams will wear the sleeved unis at least once this season, most of them on either the Christmas Day or St. Patrick’s Day games.
So, for those of you who thought the sleeves were just a one-and-done with the Warriors, think again. NBA players, you no longer have the right to bare arms.
