LaMelo Ball was ejected from a JBA international matchup on Monday after the youngest Ball brother slapped an opposing player in the face and got into a brief shoving match.
Ball’s USA squad squared up against the Lithuanian Alytaus Dzukija team. In the third quarter, the 17-year-old drove to the hoop and missed a shot. After the ball went off out of bounds, an Alytaus Dzukija player tapped LaMelo in the head. Ball responded by slapping his opponent in the face.
Failed punches were thrown and benches cleared before both parties were split up and Ball was ejected.
Incidents like this one, whether Ball was touched first or not, just add to the ever-increasing list of reasons LaMelo isn’t being taken seriously. To get ejected from his dad’s league in an international game is an incredibly bad look. He’s lucky he didn’t get socked in the face.
The JBA was up 15 points at the time of the ejection and fell 124-116. So, not only did LaMelo’s selfishness kick him out of the game, it probably derailed a potential win.
