The Kobe Bryant-less Los Angeles Lakers continued their topsy-turvy season last night with a 116-95 thrashing of the New Orleans Pelicans at the Staples Center — a game that was watched by the first non-sellout home crowd since December 6th, 2006. For those scoring at home, that was 320 games ago, against the temporarily relocated New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets. The starting lineup that December night included Smush Parker, Luke Walton and Kwame Brown, which is about on par with what the Lakers have been trotting out this season (save for Pau Gasol, of course).
At least Kwame & Co. had an active Kobe Bryant to distract star-obsessed Lakers fans from the awfulness surrounding him. Now, Lakers fans have to suffer through the offensive stylings of Nick Young, while Kobe sits on the bench in funeral attire. Very expensive, well-fitting funeral attire, but still — funeral attire.
