Kevin Durant was officially announced as the NBA MVP on Tuesday, winning in a landslide over LeBron James, with 119 of a possible 125 first place votes. As is tradition, Durant took to the podium to accept his award, and delivered what can be best described as a dress rehearsal for his eventual Hall of Fame speech.
In it, he thanked each of his teammates individually, while giving special attention to his polarizing running mate, Russell Westbrook, and head coach Scott Brooks . He also recognized his mother, Wanda, dubbing her the “real MVP”.
