The All-NBA teams were announced today, and, as with most NBA awards, there was a bit of tomfoolery among the voting populace. This time, it was Celtics broadcaster Cedric Maxwell, who cast a third team vote for Carmelo Anthony — his only vote across all ballots.
Cedric Maxwell voted for Melo for third-team All NBA.

You’ll recall that Melo only played in 40 games this season before the sorry Knicks shut his ass down before mailing in the remainder of a 17-65 season. Also, Melo wasn’t exactly setting the league on fire prior to his perma-benching. His 24.2 points and 6.6 rebounds per game were his lowest averages in those categories in three years. That drop off isn’t the difference between first team and third team — it’s the difference between third team and off the list entirely (Melo is a perennial third teamer, who has managed to finish on the second team twice).
