Ferrell Takes the Field, the “documentary” on Will Ferrell’s MLB preseason journey (of being traded to ten different teams in one day) is set to debut on HBO on September 12th.
In a recently released clip of the film, Ferrell goes through his pitching repertoire, which supposedly includes a mind-boggling 63 different pitches. In addition to throwing a traditional knuckle-ball, Ferrell states that he can throw a catfish, a European knuckle-ball, the Aquamarine and something called Turquoise to name a few.
Ferrell also throws something called “The Slurge” that he apparently “learned in Japan.” What is the “The Slurge,” you may be asking? We’ll let the expert Slurge-tosser explain:
“It’s a slider, curveball with a bit of a screwball and the action of the pitch urges you to swing at it, thus ‘The Slurge’.”
Unfortunately, the clip doesn’t show Ferrell using “The Slurge” in action, although it must look something like this:
