Los Angeles Angels Mike Trout is undeniably one of the most talented baseball players in the history of the game when he is healthy. Unfortunately for him, he has not been able to stay healthy for quite some time, and it sounds like that trend is continuing this season.
On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Angels announced that Mike Trout was pausing his rehab on his knee after a recent setback during his recovery from meniscus surgery earlier this year.
“We’re going to shut down his rehab in general,” Los Angeles Angels general manager Perry Minasian said of Trout according to ESPN. “He’s going to get reevaluated. He still doesn’t feel good, so we’ll see where that goes.”
Minasian was then asked if Trout was still expected to return to the lineup this season, and he certainly did not give a terribly optimistic answer.
“We’ll see,” he responded.
Obviously, this is horrible news for Trout, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media.
I said the other day on the pod that it was starting to feel like the year where he never came back from the calf injury. This sucks. https://t.co/pvOpqonFoA

Awful for Trout, awful for the Angels, awful for MLB that a star like this can’t stay on the field. https://t.co/BpgMm6VAQZ

Hurts to say but angels will never make the playoffs with trout on the roster. he makes too much money and is always hurt. arte is no longer willing to keep spending to build around. While he’s on the roster Arte will never rebuild.. best thing for both is to part ways https://t.co/hoZvEYDpqe

Seems like his body would only support a 10 year career. It was an incredible 10 years but feels like there is not much left. He will always be my favorite player. Sad situation.

Trout has not played more than 140 games since 2016, and that includes missing nearly half the season after fracturing a bone in his hand in early July. He returned for just one game in August before spending the remainder of the season on the injured list.
