36. Kevin Youkilis, First Basemen and Third Basemen
Status: Signed by the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles to a one-year deal worth $4 million plus incentives
Unlike Wade Boggs, Roger Clemens, Johnny Damon and Babe Ruth; the Kevin Youkilis Yankee experiment did not go quite as planned. Youk only played in 28 games for the Bombers and when he was in the lineup he hit only .219, good enough for a -0.2 WAR which was the exact same production the Yankees got at third base from Chris Nelson in 2013. It doesn’t look like there is much left to Youk, as injuries are expediting the former three-time All-Stars decline, but some team will probably take a chance on the two-time World Seres champion.
