After a depressing stint with the failed experiment that was the Brooklyn Nets, Deron Williams has reportedly reached a buyout which will allow the 3-time All-Star to enter free agency.

Williams had two years left on his deal with the Nets and he was due to make $43.3 million. According to Marc Stein of ESPN, Williams will reportedly see about $25-30 million of that money in the buyout.
As for where Deron is headed, signs point to Dallas, a team that resides in Williams’ home state that also happens to have some unplanned free cap space thanks to DeAndre Jordan.
The agreement will clear the way, once Williams goes thru waivers, for him to sign with his hometown Mavericks, who need a starting PG.

It’s hard to say how much Deron has left in the tank. During the 2014-15 season, Williams averaged 13 points, 6.6 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game. Still, at least the Mavericks can say they are likely getting a small consolation prize out of losing the DeAndre Jordan sweepstakes.
