All-Star Game Stakes
The Royals voting debacle has received every ounce of All-Star buzz this season and while that situation is concerning, it should never outweigh the ridiculous stakes that come with winning the Midsummer Classic.
The importance of World Series home-field advantage might be overstated but it’s still embarrassing to have an exhibition game, one that features fan-voted players and requires all 30 teams to have one representative, decide the schedule for a series that determines the world champion. Major League Baseball has given no indication that they plan to scrap the idiotic plan.
