On June 2, 1987, the Seattle Mariners drafted Ken Griffey Jr. with the No. 1 overall pick in the MLB Draft.
He made his major league debut two years later on April 3, 1989, and he launched a line-drive double in his first plate appearance, a fitting start to a Hall of Fame career. He walked away from baseball 22 years later but not before racking up 13 All-Star appearances, 10 Gold Gloves and 630 home runs.
