While the Minnesota Twins now call Target Field their home, the soon-to-be vacant Metrodome hosts high school and college baseball games throughout much of the spring and summer.
They usually don’t occur at 3 A.M, as was the case last Thursday.
As reported by Christopher Dabe of Wausau Daily Herald, two Wisconsin high schools, D.C. Everest and Middleton, were desperate for a clean field away from the disgustingly long midwest winters. The two small town schools split the $750 tab to play a one hour scrimmage under the infamous teflon roof in the middle of the night.
“We dropped our bags and started taking pictures,” D.C. Everett senior Vince Collelo said. “Even when we got to the parking lot, we were taking pictures. Our coaches were like, ‘You need to get on the field and take pictures.”
The trip to the big city also included a stop at the Mall of America and an overnight hotel stay.
