TMZ is reporting that the poster child for Stand Your Ground laws, George Zimmerman, has moved on from firearms to a much less lethal hobby: boxing. Celebrity boxing promoter Damon Feldman issued a challenge to all comers, and made it quite clear that Zimmerman is not going to discriminate when it comes to opponents:
We’re told George is open to fighting a black person, but the promoter is not discriminating, telling us “We’re not looking at it as a race thing … We haven’t discussed purple, yellow, white, black.”
“Boxing isn’t new to me. It’s something I had picked up well before the incident and it’s something that I liked, I enjoyed, and I kept up with it and I was able to lose a tremendous amount of weight and get a healthy lifestyle,” he told Radar.
“So it’s not a new hobby, it’s something I have been doing and wanting to pursue to maintain a healthy lifestyle.”
The fight is scheduled to take place March 1st, and will be a Pay Per View event. So far, no opponent has stepped forward to face Zimmerman, but we have a feeling that won’t be the case for long.
