Wisconsin-based Lakemaid Beers, who’s slogan is “Great Fishermen need Great Beer,” wanted to cater to the many ice-fishermen who were in desolate and frigid areas. So following in Amazon’s footsteps they unveiled the Lakemaid Beer Drone. The beer company tested their brew copter at ice fishing lakes in Minnesota and Wisconsin with great success.
While most are embracing the thought of flying beer, the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) doesn’t think it’s such a great idea. The FAA currently restricts the commercial use of small drones.
Lakemaid Beer president Jack Supple pleaded his case,
Amazon faces a lot of obstacles. Dense urban locations present a host of problems to drone delivery. But our tests are on vast, wide-open frozen lakes free of trees and power lines. Our drone can fly as the crow flies, straight to our target, based on GPS coordinates provided by an ice angler.”
Plus there is the issue of verifying the legal drinking age of the ice anglers. So it appears that for the time being that flying beer is just a dream.
