The response to now-former Brooklyn Nets coach Avery Johnson’s firing exploded all over social media, especially considering Johnson was the reigning NBA Coach of the Month (November). One very vocal individual on Twitter happened to be Johnson’s son, Avery Johnson, Jr., who is a high school junior:
This is a fuxking Outrage. My dad is a great coach, he just got coach of the month and they Fire him. #Smh. Completely new team he had.

The expectations were way to high for this team. We didn’t even have a losing record…. Didn’t even give my dad a full season. #OUTRAGE

I’m sorry are best players couldn’t make open shots. Yeah that’s my dads fault totally…

The younger Johnson finished off his diatribe by retweeting the following:
@javi_n_misa @nanumanu @edgedout @itsaveryjohnson That’s crap. AJ deserves better. Deron Williams strikes again. #ajcomebackhome

The shot at Deron Williams is obviously a reference to the star point guard’s history of being the catalyst for firing head coaches — first Jerry Sloan in Utah, now Johnson — but Mr. Williams better be careful what he wishes for. If he had problems with Sloan and Johnson, wait until he gets a load of P.J. Carlesimo. Just ask Warriors and bummed out Sonics fans how the Carlesimo years (or just year, in Seattle’s case) went.
