1. Netflix will pay people real money to watch movies [TechRadar]

Netflix wants to expand the number of “taggers” they employ to watch movies. Taggers watch television shows and movies on Netflix and then tag them to identify their tone, plot, era, setting and so forth. For now, expansion of this particularly enviable job market will cover the UK and Ireland. Previously, all taggers had been employed in America.

“How do you apply to become a tagger for Netflix? Well, Netflix will be releasing a YouTube video with all the information. But, you have to know your films and television to stand a chance, explained Yellin who is a self-confessed film fanatic.
“I do consider myself to be a film geek and I am into a lot of the content on Netflix and that’s what we want. What we are looking for is someone who is a real expert on movies on TV shows.
“They may have done script coverage for a production company or have been a film critic or someone who is just mad about movies.
“When we have willowed it down to a manageable number, we will give them a title or two to tag and see what happens.”

Taylor Swift would like people to pay for music and she’s now also taking artists to task who promote piracy, file sharing and streaming of their own work:

“It’s my opinion that music should not be free, and my prediction is that individual artists and their labels will someday decide what an album’s price point is,” she wrote.

“In my opinion, the value of an album is, and will continue to be, based on the amount of heart and soul an artist has bled into a body of work, and the financial value that artists (and their labels) place on their music when it goes out into the marketplace,” she also commented.

Yes, it’s summer and NBC decided to play its Miley Cyrus Bangerz special over the holiday weekend. Still, it did flopped.

“Since this was a summer holiday weekend, nobody expected a truly big rating from the show. Yet on an evening where networks aired plenty of repeats, Miley’s concert was still nearly the lowest-rated and least-watched program of the night.”

Zack Brown only wanted ten dollars to make a bowl of potato salad. The internet, in one of those moments of smug “irony”, has since collectively banded together to raise over $9,000 for Brown’s project and it still has 25 days left to go. That sound you just heard in the distance was a thousand film makers, engineers and craft makers screaming in frustration.
