The sport of professional golf is undergoing a lot of changes recently as the PGA Tour and LIV Golf eye a sort of alliance. Golf superstars Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy have been involved in many conversations about the future of professional golf, leading to some reports that their friendship was now “strained” as a result. But apparently, that is not the case.
While Rory McIlroy did seem to suggest that he and Tiger Woods have had “disagreements” recently, he made it clear that overall, their friendship is not strained simply because they might have different ideas about the future of professional golf.
“I think friends can have disagreements and not see things, I guess, eye-to-eye and have disagreements,” McIlroy said according to Golf Digest. “I would say we had a really good talk last Friday for 45 minutes about a lot of different things.
“No, there is no strain there. I think we might see the future of golf a little bit differently but I don’t think that should place any strain on our relationship or friendship.”
Woods and McIlroy are the two biggest stars in the sport and have been involved in the unification talks between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf.
