Since its inception in 2022, Saudi-backed LIV Golf has lured away many PGA Tour superstars with promises of massive cash payments to the players that the PGA Tour simply could not compete with. And it sounds like one golf star is not a fan of the upstart league’s heavy emphasis on money.

During a recent interview with Golfweek, pro golfer, and PGA Tour board member Webb Simpson called out LIV Golf for emphasizing monetary greed instead of other accomplishments like the Hall of Fame or major championships.

“Greed is a very clear exposer. I’m not saying the guys going to LIV, they’re all greedy,” Simpson told Golfweek. “I’m saying when these young guys, when it’s such a heavy consideration for them, I feel like this generation has missed or they don’t care about the things that other generations cared about, which is Hall of Fame, how many wins on the PGA Tour, contending in major championships. Everyone talks about the money.”

Many of the players who defected from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf were offered life-changing amounts of money to make the move, but it sounds like Simpson thinks that some of those stars should have reconsidered their priorities.
