On Sunday, golf superstar Bryson DeChambeau out-dueled Rory McIlroy to win the U.S. Open. And as it turns out, he has a pretty strong relationship with former United States President Donald Trump.
Bryson DeChambeau and Donald Trump actually have a relationship that dates back multiple years. DeChambeau has played golf with the former president and has even spoken openly about how glad he is to share a relationship with Trump.
“It was an honor,” DeChambeau said previously about playing golf with Trump. “I mean, anytime you get to play with a president, whether passed or sitting, it’s just an honor, no matter who it is. Very lucky to have a relationship with him, and he’s always been generous to me.”
DeChambeau also has made it clear that he is proud to represent Trump Golf and the Trump Organization.
“I am extremely honored to represent Trump Golf and have the relationship with the Trump Organization that I have,” DeChambeau previously told the Trump Organization’s official website.
That affinity appears to go both ways as Trump was quick to congratulate DeChambeau on his U.S. Open victory.
“Congratulations to Bryson DeChambeau on his incredible WIN of the United States Open! He showed a toughness and inner strength, matched perfectly with his GREAT Golfing Talent, that can never be denied! Under massive pressure, he pulled off some of the greatest shots ever made, especially his spectacular sand save on the 18th Hole that gave him the Victory. ‘Mr. 58’ has always been a WINNER, and will go on to many more Major Championships. He is a truly tough competitor, even a nasty one, but he also happens to be a great guy. The U.S.A. could not be better represented,” Trump said in his post on Truth Social.
Clearly, the two have a good relationship.
