During Thursday night’s presidential debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, the two of them spent a few minutes debating their golf games, driving distance, and handicaps. And golf superstar Bryson DeChambeau wants to end the debate once and for all.
It all started on Thursday when Donald Trump began bragging about his golf game as proof of his mental and physical abilities before claiming that Joe Biden “can’t hit a ball 50 yards.”
“I just won two club championships — not even senior,” Trump said. “Two regular club championships. To do that, you have to be quite smart, and you have to be able to hit the ball a long way. He doesn’t do it. He can’t hit a ball 50 yards. He challenged me to a golf match; he can’t hit a ball 50 yards.”
Biden responded to Trump by challenging him to a driving contest.
“I’d be happy to have a driving contest. I got my handicap when I was vice president down to a six,” Biden said. “By the way, I told you before, I’m happy to play golf with you if you carry your own bag. Think you can do it?”
That’s where Bryson DeChambeau comes in.
Following their comments, DeChambeau took to social media to offer to host a golf competition between the two presidential candidates.
“Let’s settle this whole handicap debate, I’ll host the golf match on my YouTube @realDonaldTrump @JoeBiden,” DeChambeau said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
It’s extremely unlikely that the two candidates will actually take him up on the offer, but it would certainly be interesting to watch.
