When you want to get hyped for a matchup of two legendary college football programs in Florida State and Alabama, what comes into your head? Florida State’s war chant? Alabama’s fight song? Great classic rock songs with crunching guitars? Apparently, what someone at ESPN thinks of is Taylor Swift’s crappy new song called “Look What You Made Me Do”, which actually samples, wait for it… “I’m Too Sexy” by Right Said Fred.
Because nothing says the best of the best in college football than one of the goofiest and silliest one hit wonders in music history. ESPN must have been ashamed that they used this song in a promo because it dropped at midnight, right when almost no one would notice.

Predictably, Twitter was not pleased with this development:

And it’s not like ESPN has an illustrious history of using good songs in their college football promos. Remember when they used a terrible Fall Out Boy song which sampled “Tom’s Diner” to promo their best games?
The one they used last year called “Collider” by X Ambassadors and Tom Morello was infinitely better and actually got your blood pumping.
And then there was an Eminem song, which wasn’t one of his best, but even when he wasn’t trying, it sounded much better than Taylor Swift sampling “I’m Too Sexy” (of course, this also lead to one of the best in-game interviews in sports history).

But, ESPN’s best promo song they ever used for college football was really simple: band music!
Don’t overthink these things ESPN, because when you do, you end up using crappy Taylor Swift songs to promote the best college football matchups in recent memory.
