As most of us sat down Super Bowl Sunday to share pizza or other food items with our families and friends, Takeru Kobayashi “Tsunami”, “Kobi” a well known competitive eating veteran, sat down to a large pizza in front of a lucky group that kept their eyes glued to the stopwatch. The holder of 4 world records completed the feat in under 60 seconds, and come to find out has quite the history; as his menu choices seem endless and in my opinion reckless.
– First World Record 50 hot dogs in 12 minutes on July 4th, 2001 at Nathan’s Coney Island hot dog-eating contest.
Other challenges completed: 17.7 pounds of cow brains, 20 pounds of rice balls, 97 hamburgers, 59.5 hot dogs and buns, 83 vegetarian jiaozi dumplings, 100 roasted pork buns, 58 bratwurst sausages, 337 wings
