People are losing their minds over the $1.5 billion Powerball, as they should. The lottery has shattered almost every state and nationwide record over the last two weeks and that will continue through Wednesday evening, when, hours before the drawing, already-insane revenue will go ballistic.
According to ABC, Powerball sales will hover around $1.3 million PER MINUTE between 4:00-7:00 p.m. across the country. For those scoring at home, that’s a whopping $234 million of tickets sold in just three hours. An estimated $600 million is expected to be spent on Wednesday.
It’s unclear what the total will reach if no one wins the jacket after Wednesday night’s drawing but estimates say will comfortably surpass $2 billion and could reach $3 billion if the following drawing doesn’t produce a winner.
Holy crap.
