5. Beck – Morning Phase
This album was released early in 2014 and seems to have gotten forgotten in the mix of new albums. Which is strange because every time I go back to listen to Morning Phase it’s like I’m listening to it for the first time, every song is unique and amazingly well written. The album is much closer to Beck’s 2002 album, Sea Change, which featured a lot of acoustic guitars and sappy songs about heartbreak. This album really displays Beck’s darker side very well, the songs lyrics are some of Beck’s deepest yet. Along with great story telling, Morning Phase includes incredible string arrangements that were put together by Beck’s dad, David Campbell.
