Disco Demolition Night will forever live in infamy, alongside 10 Cent Beer Night, as one of the perfectly horrible promotional ideas in Major League Baseball.

That night of disco demolition on July 12, 1979 set the bar for every ambitious promotion in professional sports moving forward. Chicago White Sox owner Bill Veeck and son, Mike, concocted that idea of blowing up records between the team’s doubleheader.

Mike is now President of the Charleston RiverDogs, Single-A affiliate of the Yankees and decided another go around with this “blowing crap up” concept.

The team invited fans to bring albums and other merchandise from Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus to the ballpark on Saturday night. The music would then be blown up after the game, as Mike clearly learned from his last mistake.
