After weeks of build-up, Ludacris has finally dropped the music video for “Beast Mode” with special guest star Marshawn Lynch.
As a song, “Beast Mode” is pretty damn good. The beat is appropriately heavy and luxurious – a wonderful contrast of hard bass and light chimes and snares. Luda attacks each line with the familiar cadence that made him a mainstay in rap for the past seventeen years. It all makes for a very solid, if somewhat formulaic, Ludacris video.
However, as a four minute product placement video for Marshawn Lynch’s Beast Mode apparel, the music video is flawless. Don’t know about you but I now want that damn black Beast Mode hoodie.
