There’s been quite a lot of hype surrounding the upcoming N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton, and for good reason. The Compton-based rap group – comprised of Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Eazy E, DJ Yella, and MC Ren – was one of the most important and influential performers in the history of the hip-hop genre.
The first trailer for the film dropped back in February, but the official theatrical trailer was released this week. I think I can now safely say that I’m ‘all-in’ on this project, as the latest trailer is pretty damn awesome and has me very excited. I’m interested to see how the movie tackles not only the musical side of N.W.A’s story, but also the cultural impact the group had on America.
I’m ready. Bring on August 13th.
