Well, if nothing else, the Ben Affleck-produced movie based on Houses of Deceit, the investigative book by Ken Bensinger about the rise and corrupt fall of American FIFA executive Chuck Blazer, will almost assuredly do better at the box office than FIFA’s propaganda film did.

Blazer was well-known for being a high-ranking FIFA powerbroker and for his extravagant lifestyle that included, and this is true, a Trump Tower apartment for his cats. He was listed as one of the FBI’s cooperative witnesses in the Bureau’s FIFA arrests earlier this year.

His stature as one of soccer’s top dogs began to unravel when in the 2010s, allegations of bribery began to surface as well as massive tax evasion. Even as he admitted to conspiring to accept bribes with other FIFA executives, he was also informing for the FBI.

The film will be directed by Gavin O’Connor, who will also serve as the story’s co-writer alongside Anthony Tambakis. The film will be produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s Pearl Street Films.
