Mike Francesa today helped to break the story that the New York Rangers had relieved John Tortorella of his head coaching duties. “The Sports Pope” rarely talks hockey on his show on WFAN, but today Francesa decided the firing of Torts merited some air time on his daily talk show.
Francesa then decided to talk about the clowns over at ESPN who ‘broke’ the story about 20 minutes after Sports Pope did. He called the Worldwide Leader embarrassing for claiming that a ‘source’ reported Tortorella had been let go, when in reality the Rangers had already made the move official.
Neither Francesa nor ESPN really do well covering the NHL, so this is pot and kettle kind of stuff, but is still worth a listen to hear Francesca say ‘sawce’ over and over again.
