In case you missed it last night, the Houston Rockets sent out a tweet in the waning moments of a 4-1 gentleman’s sweep over the Dallas Mavericks. The tweet contained two Emojis: (1) a gun, aimed at (2) a horse’s head. The tweet was quickly deleted, and now, the person responsible for the tweet no longer has a job. Chad Shanks took to Twitter to inform the world he’s now a free agent in the social media world, willing to work for anyone. Sense of humor most certainly required.
Sometimes you can go too far. I will no longer run @HoustonRockets but am grateful to the organization that let me develop an online voice.

I did my best to make the account the best in the NBA by pushing the envelope, but pushed too far for some and for that I apologize.

I hope there’s another organization out there in need of someone willing to take chances and create engaging social content. I hope.
