The Los Angeles Lakers won their fourth game of the season on Sunday, downing the Eastern Conference-leading Toronto Raptors 129-122, thanks in large part to Kobe Bryant’s triple-double (31 points, 11 rebounds, 12 assists). Even though the teams are at opposite ends of the league’s standings, the Raptors were at a slight disadvantage as it was their first game without DeMar Derozan, who suffered a groin injury in the team’s previous game and is expected to miss at least four weeks.
Derozan’s injury means Kyle Lowry is the star of the show now, and he didn’t disappoint, putting up 29 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists and 3 steals. At one point, Lowry also became the subject of a classic media blooper, as NBA TV analyst Rick Fox noticed a particularly awkward landing position the Raps’ point guard found himself in. Fox made mention of Kyle Lowry’s “nuts” resting on Kobe’s head, before someone in the studio reminded him that the mics were still hot.
