Kareem Abdul-Jabbar appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live Wednesday night to talk about the show Splash, the Los Angeles Lakers and the newly vacant head coaching job at UCLA.
When Kimmel asked Abdul-Jabbar if he had any interest in coaching at his alma mater, Abdul-Jabbar said he certainly does. Abdul-Jabbar was a star at UCLA from 1965-69, averaging over 26 points and 15 rebounds per game throughout his career while leading the Bruins to three consecutive National Championships. His coaching career is not so illustrious, having mainly served the bulk of his coaching days as a “special assistant” for the Lakers since 2005.
