I must confess, when I saw video of a giant fireball streaking through the Russian sky early this morning, I had two fleeting thoughts: 1) it was Optimus Prime and an Autobot army descending from the heavens, and 2) Klendathu is a real place. Unfortunately, in both scenarios, an intergalactic space battle would ensue. Don’t get me wrong, that’d be cool, but only for about ten seconds, at which point you realize life isn’t like the movies, and humanity would probably be wiped out shortly after. So I was cool with it just being a giant space rock, instead.
While most people also accepted the meteorite at face value, that didn’t stop the Internet from positing theories on what really happened over the Ural Mountains. One such person was former Bash Brother and steroid abuser/accuser Jose Canseco, who took to Twitter to share his thoughts on Friday morning’s events:
