It was announced this week that Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl will play drums on a new Queens of the Stone Age album, which is close to completion and due for release sometime in 2013.
Grohl, who was the drummer for Nirvana until Kurt Cobain’s suicide dissolved the band in 1994, previously played drums for QotSA on their 2002 album “Songs for the Deaf” (their best, in my opinion) and band leader Josh Homme told Rolling Stone “[Grohl] ”and I have this wonderful musical relationship which we don’t have with other people, it’s a very cool and comfortable position.”
It’s still unknown whether or not Grohl will join Queens of the Stone Age on tour for the promotion of the new album, but it’s definitely a possibility considering he announced back in September that the Foo Fighters were taking a break.
Overall, this should come as pretty welcoming news for music fans. More Dave Grohl is never a bad thing.
