Earlier this week, a report from ESPN claimed that the Ohio State Buckeyes shared rival Michigan’s signals with the Purdue Boilermakers before Purdue faced the Wolverines in the 2022 Big Ten Championship Game. But Ohio State head coach Ryan Day is firmly denying that report.
During his interview session on Thursday evening, Ryan Day flatly denied that Ohio State shared Michigan’s signs with Purdue, bluntly saying “That did not happen.”
“Nobody here did any of that,” Day said according to Eleven Warriors. “We went through and made sure we asked all the questions and got our compliance people involved. None of that came back at all. I can answer very strongly that that did not happen.”
This, of course, comes as Michigan is facing an NCAA investigation into illegal sign stealing. But even though the investigation directly impacts Ohio State’s biggest rival, Day made it clear that Ohio State is maintaining focus on football.
“For us, the only thing that matters is playing right now and finishing the season the right way,” Day said. “Anything else for us right now is a waste of time. If somebody asks a question or (Ohio State athletic director) Gene (Smith) comes in, we’ll talk about it. But other than that, it’s all football.”
It will be interesting to see how the investigation shakes out.
