Shelomi Sanders, the daughter of Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders, is transferring from Colorado to Alabama A&M to continue her college basketball career. But it doesn’t sound like Sanders was happy with her decision to leave Boulder.
During an interview on DNVR Buffs Live, Deion Sanders called Shelomi’s decision to enter the transfer portal “stupid.”
“You get a team before you enter the portal,” Deion Sanders said. “That’s what I would advise a child. I know it’s illegal, c’mon, c’mon. Everybody knows somebody that knows somebody, that knows somebody. You kind of want them to do something. … And she truly has been advised.”

Many people read into Shelomi’s decision to transfer, suggesting it could indicate that Deion Sanders was not going to remain in Colorado for much longer. But Deion Sanders made it pretty clear that is not the case.
“You have to understand. I am a real father; I am a real man and a real dad,” Sanders said. “Where I come from and historically, kids follow their parents. When do parents start following their kids? That doesn’t work in my book. That does not work where I am from. I am the leader of the family, I have been dictating where my kids go, not them dictating where I go.”
Those are certainly some pretty harsh words for his daughter.
