On Thursday afternoon, former United States President Donald Trump was found guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records in his hush money trial in New York, marking the first time a former United States president has ever been convicted of a crime. And one former SEC head coach had a pretty stunning reaction to the news.

On Friday afternoon, former Auburn Tigers head football coach Bryan Harsin took to social media to express his outrage at the conviction of Donald Trump as he posted a photo of an upside-down American flag on his Instagram story with a message of anger.

“Humiliation, mockery public shaming that’s what evil does,” Harsin posted, including the lack of punctuation.

The upside-down American flag has historically been used as a sign of distress for sailors at sea. But in recent years, it has been used by the far right to represent the “Stop the Steal” movement, which falsely claims the 2020 presidential election was stolen from Trump in favor of Democrat Joe Biden.

Needless to say, this is a pretty controversial thing for a former SEC head coach to be posting on social media.

Harsin has been out of coaching since 2022 when he was fired as the head coach of the Tigers.
