Arch Manning was the highest-rated prospect in the entire 2023 high school recruiting class, but he spent his entire first season with the Texas Longhorns behind Quinn Ewers on the depth chart. And with Ewers returning once again this season, he’ll be behind him once again. And he admits that’s not easy.
During a recent interview, Arch Manning admitted that it is “tough” to be in a position where he will not be the team’s starting quarterback through the first two seasons of his career, but it sounds like he’s conceded that he will simply wait his turn and “play there eventually.”
“It’s tough because you want to be out there playing with your boys,” Manning told Larry Holder of The Athletic. “But [it came down to] just realizing there’s nowhere else I want to be, and it was my dream to play at Texas. I’m going to stick it out and play there eventually.”
While Manning was the highest-rated player in the 2023 high school recruiting class, Ewers was actually the highest-rated player in the 2021 class, even after reclassifying and leaving high school a year early. Needless to say, the Longhorns have a lot of talent at the quarterback position.
