Donald Trump Adam Cairns-The Columbus Dispatch

Consider former American president Donald Trump to be a big fan of the late legendary men’s basketball coach Bobby Knight.

Trump sent a loud message to Knight, who passed away last week, on Truth Social.

“The World just lost an incredible person, the Great Bobby Knight. He was not just an award-winning and record-breaking Coach, he was loyal to his Players, to his State, and to our Country—Tough as nails, but a big heart,” Trump wrote in his trademarked style.

“When he Endorsed me, it was like the whole Great World of Indiana opened up happy and wide. Our hearts and prayers are with his wonderful wife Karen and Sons, Tim and Pat—Their Father was a great man!” he wrote.

Knight and Trump were longtime friends. Knight sealed the friendship in 2016, becoming one of the first public figures to endorse Trump in his presidential campaign against Hillary Clinton.

Knight called Trump a “tough son of a [expletive],” which was a compliment in Knight’s world.

Knight also claimed that Trump would have never let the terrorist attack on the American Embassy in Benghazi, Libya, happen. That attack killed four Americans, including United States Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stephens.
