ESPN star Stephen A. Smith has been quite vocal in recent months about the idea of running for president as the Democratic nominee, and once again this week, he revisited the topic while also taking a pretty brutal shot at United States President Donald Trump.
During his appearance on The View on Tuesday, co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin mentioned Smith’s growing favorability in Democratic polls and the possibility of him launching a presidential campaign.
Although Smith acknowledged that he isn’t necessarily qualified for the role, he didn’t shy away from the belief that he could win against any opponent.
“I mean it when I say it. I think I can beat them all,” Stephen A. Smith said on the show via Awful Announcing. “And I have no desire whatsoever to run for office, I am not a politician, I am not qualified.”
He then took aim at current U.S. President Donald Trump, pointing out that Trump himself isn’t exactly “coherent” or a refined politician.
“But I know this much, when you consider who’s on the other side and how he’s gotten away with saying very little in terms of being coherent and articulating his thoughts clearly and concisely and what have you. This is not something that he’s known to do. Yet, and still, he has owned the Republican Party since 2015,” Smith said.
This isn’t the first time Smith has floated the idea of a presidential run as he began speaking openly about the possibility last month. We’ll have to see whether or not it happens.
