The Pittsburgh Steelers are on the cusp of making a move that might stir up controversy around the National Football League.
Pittsburgh is expected to sign cornerback Cameron Sutton. The Steelers’ move to sign Sutton comes only a few months after domestic violence accusations against Sutton were made.
Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported the news that the Steelers plan to sign the veteran cornerback Sutton to a one-year deal at the NFL’s veteran’s minimum.

Earlier this year, Sutton became the subject of domestic violence accusations. His accuser alleged that Sutton strangled her, and he was charged with a felony for domestic violence and domestic battery by strangulation, but prosecutors said he would be charged with a misdemeanor after his arrest and after he turned himself in.
The Lions promptly released Sutton after the allegations surfaced. Detroit was praised for that act by many around the league. So it could be interesting to see how the league responds to the Steelers signing Sutton.
If reactions to the news that the Steelers are about to sign Sutton are any indication, Pittsburgh may be the subject of tangible and legitimate criticism.
Crazy. Welcome back Cameron Sutton. I know there’s going to be fans not happy with this one based off circumstances and I totally understand why. https://t.co/8k4ajTW8PM

Don’t care how badly we need cover at the position, this stinks https://t.co/eHO7C7WyMp

Not dismissing people getting second chances but for a fan base and former players speaking up about “returning to the Rooney way” this isn’t quite a move people should be as excited about as they are. https://t.co/iH40fKF24U

More proof that if athletes are deemed “good enough,” their actions will be excused. Well, it was nice knowing peace for two years. https://t.co/fVaOo2o0Dy
