The Los Angeles Chargers currently hold the No. 5 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, and it sounds like it would take a lot to convince the team to trade out of that spot.
During his press conference this week, General Manager Joe Hortiz said that the team would have to be blown away by an offer to be willing to trade down from the No. 5 pick as he made it clear that the team is not interested in a “fair” trade that’s a wash for both teams.
“There’s certainly, ‘It’s too good of a deal’, in terms of what you’re getting back,” Hortiz said according to the Los Angeles Chargers team website. “They have to make it attractive to us for us to move away from those players. The whole, ‘It’s a fair trade, it’s a wash’. I don’t think that’s a trade we’re interested in.”
New Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh has explained that with the four teams ahead of the Los Angeles Chargers in the draft all expected to select quarterbacks and the Chargers not needing a quarterback, it’s like the team has the No. 1 overall pick in the draft.
And it sounds like the team is not all that willing to give that up.
