Fan favorite WR Victor Cruz of the New York Giants has agreed to a six-year contract extension worth a reported $46 million. Over the past two seasons, Cruz has been a vital part of New York’s success, especially during the epic Giants’ Super Bowl run of 2011 where he recorded 21 catches for 269 yards and 1 score during the course of the playoffs. When it comes down to it, this deal was vital for New York to continue to be one of the most explosive passing attacks in the NFL. Surely, Eli Manning is smiling somewhere.
“It was very important, not just for the team and the Giants, but for my family being from here for the people from Paterson for the kids who look up to me in this area,” Cruz said. All of that played a part into this and it was very important for me. I knew that in order for me to continue to be a role model in an exponential way for these children I would have to stay a Giant.”
Cruz has 68 catches for 2,628 yards and 19 touchdowns during his career as a Giant and has not yet reached his full potential as he still is only 26 years old.
