The Las Vegas Raiders are eager to get back into championship contention. It’s a tall order, as they share the AFC West with Patrick Mahomes. If that weren’t enough, the AFC West is stacked with great head coaches.
Jim Harbaugh, Sean Payton, and Andy Reid reside in the division. Fortunately for Las Vegas, they now have a legendary coach of their own to go toe-to-toe with the others, according to one prominent league insider.
“The (Raiders) have officially struck a deal with Pete Carroll to become their new head coach, sources confirm to (NFL on FOX). Tom Brady has long admired Pete Carroll and the belief in Vegas is he will reset the culture — while also having the ability to compete with Reid/Harbaugh/Payton,” reported Jordan Schultz.

Fans reacted to the splash hire on social media.
“Tom needs to be off Fox if he’s this is involved in raiders decision as minority owner. It’s not in writing he is, but he is,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Cowboys are simply leverage at this point,” one fan added, referencing how Carroll was rumored to be in talks to become the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.
“whata division of coaches,” added one fan.
It’ll be interesting to see if Carroll can get the Raiders back to the playoffs.
