As the NFL coaching carousel continues, it sounds like Pro Football Hall of Famer and current Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders is interested in one of the available jobs.
Las Vegas Raiders beat writer Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal cited an anonymous source close to the situation who said that Deion Sanders has reached out to the Raiders about the head coaching vacancy.
“He has a very strong interest in the job,” the person told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Bonsignore reports that one of Sanders’ associates reached out to the Raiders to express his interest in the job opening.
It’s not clear whether or not the Raiders are interested in Sanders or would entertain this possibility.
Of course, this goes against what Sanders has previously said about his potential NFL interest.
During a recent interview with Good Morning America, Deion Sanders indicated that he would only consider leaving Colorado to coach in the NFL if he could coach his sons at the next level.
“The only way I would consider, is to coach my sons,” he told GMA, highlighting both Shedeur and Shilo Sanders according to On3. “Not son. Sons.”
It’s worth noting that Sanders does have a long relationship with Tom Brady, who is currently a part owner of the Las Vegas Raiders and is assisting in the coaching search.
We’ll have to see whether or not this materializes.
